Completing a licensing course is the first step in your firearms training. Have you purchased or in the process of considering purchasing your first firearm and want to learn the fundamentals of being a responsibly armed defender? Are you curious to know the correct way to safely stage and store a firearm in your home or how to carry in accordance with federal and local laws? Have you considered if carrying a firearm fits into your personal protection plan and if so, which type would suit your needs? If you answered yes to any of these questions, our Before You Carry & Defend course is the next step and will be the most critical course you will take through your firearms training journey.

Your home is your castle, and it should be the safest place for you and your family. In this course, you will learn the fundamentals of making your home safe by reviewing the latest strategies and methodologies for developing a detailed and realistic home defense plan both with and without the need for a firearm. You will learn the many aspects of becoming a responsibly armed defender: physically, mentally, morally, financially, and legally.

A firearm is the tool of absolute last resort, and no one should want to use one unless necessary to protect their family from grave bodily harm. What if you were forced to use your firearm? What are the laws of self-defense? What is the legal use of force? Our Before You Defend & Carry course answers these and many other questions surrounding a violent encounter and the aftermath to expect after the police arrive. We will cover and dispel the mistruths centered around the Castle Doctrine and the duty to retreat.

By the end of this course, you will have a clear picture of how to develop an effective home defense and personal protection plan to defend your family. You will also be able to determine if a firearm fits into your plan and if yes which type will suit your personal needs.

Students will also leave with a copy of the USCCA’s Concealed Carry & Home Defense book ($35 value).
